ANALYTICAL TESTING

Analytical techniques include detailed analysis backed by technical excellence and innovation.

Traceability testing includes:

  • Isolation / detection of microbial strains in Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp., Enterobacteria.
  • Phenotypic & molecular characterization. Real time PCR for DNA sequencing to find contaminations of foreign DNA. The analysis contains an in vitro study of the phenotypic and molecular characterization of microbial strains and for the determination of contaminants. A molecular technique or procedure is provided to amplify specific DNA fragments and detect traceability.
  • Determination / quantification of chemical contaminants in food.
  • Nitrates
  • Nitrous salts
  • Nitrosamines
  • PAH’s
  • Multispectral images. Diagnostic imaging is carried out on fresh meat products and ready-to-eat high-heat processed meat products.

To add customized classic tests, like shelf life and  food labelling, to minimize the risks of delivering a non-compliant product and for businesses to comply with Food safety requirements Requirements (HACCP) businesses are invited to inform E-platon operators accordingly.

Safety and Quality of Food

SAMPLING

Samples selected to be tested for program needs may be food products, environmental samples and areas from the production site.

E-platon participants will be led by the project team on sampling issues related to:

  • Draft sampling plan
  • Updating traceability data

E-platon encourages participating companies to select samples from critical points of the production process in order to apply controls to prevent or reduce any food safety requirements hazard. According to the industry’s requirements, food businesses should comply with the HACCP  Food safety requirements Standard, according to which, food contanminants transport should be excluded from the food production area.

Detailed documentation of sampling conditions and confidential information management are of key importance to the success of the program’s objective and the improvement of risk assessment. The participant must take into account sampling techniques and any necessary documentation or information necessary for the best execution of the project. Particularly useful is judged information on the traceability of the food to be sampled.

RELIABILITY

The research program, the participating researchers, the scientific personnel and the employees shall have the obligation of  confidentiality of all private information of each participating organisation, including the data collected during the execution of the project and the results of the analyzes.

E-platon undertakes to properly perform and process the relevant analyzes of the products to be collected from the premises of each participating company. The results of the analyzes that are covered by the program concern only the products of each participating company. They will be communicated electronically to the relevant department of each participating undertaking and will be the property of the participating organization.

The management of printed and digital data, is given in accordance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) to safeguard the integrity of the data.
